Native to forest, hills, and mountain slopes from western Europe, the European White Birch is a graceful pendulous tree with peeling silvery-white bark. The bark is highly ornamental and becomes darker and fissured with age. Grown commercially in northern Europe for timber. Used for fire wood, plywood, and furniture. Yellow autumn foliage, deciduous. Keep outdoors.
